Description

Like all of its Official siblings, The Jeudi boot strives to be your go-to sole with unique but understated features fully capable of adapting to any lifestyle. Call them chameleons and soon you’ll be calling them essential! Crafted from water resistant pebbled leather and sporting sturdy EcoRubber soles, these Chelsea boots are ready for anything you’re willing to throw at them! (Except for maybe sharp items. Please don’t do that.) Verified by authorities, The Officials are the perfect shoes for every Fluevogin’ thing you do.

Update (08/01/24): Don't worry, this isn't a case of the Mandela Effect. It's simply a new day for the same boots you know and love. (Well, technically, it's the same day, just in French.) These Official boots — previously known as 'Thursday' — have been renamed to Jeudi!

Check out #vog_jeudi to see them in the wild!

Not designed to last

I bought a pair in black a few years ago. I wore them for only one fall to spring season on Vancouver Island before they split open along the top seam. I babied them; did not wear them through any particularly rigorous activities, only light walks. Unlike Chelsea boots from other brands that are made of one seamless piece of leather along the top, there is a seam on the Fluevog Chelsea that runs across half the width of your foot, right along the top. This is a bizarre place to put a seam, since it is the part that sees the most stress when the boot is in flexion while taking a step. The stitching became fully undone along the top of both shoes at this seam. I’m a Fluevog devotee (I currently own 6 pairs), which is why I can say that this shoe is uncharacteristically poorly designed. The gaping holes or “air vents”, as I call them, are not a great walking ad for Fluevog. Six months of use. Compare this to my partner’s Blundstones, which he wore for 5 years year-long through all manner of treks before he got a new pair. I can’t do Blundstones, since my feet are too narrow and flat. These ones fit my narrow feet perfectly, as Fluevogs always do for me, but I cannot recommend them and would never buy them again unless this flaw is fixed, even more so since the price increase. They’re just poorly designed/constructed. John and co. , please redesign so that they last!

Best all purpose boot!

I have a very narrow foot and I hate to break in shoes. If they don't feel amazing when I first put them on, I won't wear them! I had been looking for a good pair of Chelsea boots for years! Tried all the popular brands and all of them were uncomfortable. I tried these on in their Vancouver store and instantly loved them! Been wearing them everyday in cold season for the last 5 years and still look brand new! Please come out with a dark burgundy colour!! That would be the best!

Better than Schmundstones

I was a diehard fan of a certain Australian cult favourite ankle boot. These are better. It took some breaking in, as I have high insteps, but the beautiful blue leather did mold to my feet after about two weeks. I use a protector spray and these boots look just as beautiful as the day I bought them.

Don’t waste your money.

Contacted Fluevog about a pair of boots with both soles coming off after only two years of moderate use. They told me it’s a problem cause by winter and or wet weather. And I should get them glued back on. Like winter and wet weather are not a regular part of Ontario Canada weather. I guess they are comfortable, until the sole falls off. Maybe if I only wear the boots in the summer. I really thought they would stand behind their product. Turns out they can’t because it rained and now they have no sole.

Absolute favorite boot

I bought these 2 years ago thinking I wasn’t sure I should be spending this much on a boot that is just a basic black Chelsea boot that there are probably some knock offs of. After wearing them year round in Montana including in the snow, I can say they’re worth every penny and then some. For my average to slightly narrow foot and slightly narrow ankle the fit is as good as a lace up boot. There is no slip in the ankle due to tie super high quality elastic which shows no sign of wearing out. The firm but not too hard sole doesn’t slip on ice although if I were walking far I would wear pull on cleats which would work fine with these. Never had to though. The sole after 2 years shows no wear even though all my shoes never wear out perfectly even in the heel. I keep wondering when they’re going to show wear and they just don’t and I’m not easy on them. I also just spent a week having medical tests at Mayo Clinic and this was the only shoe I brought for the week. I walked miles every day from appointment to appointment and from the clinic to my hotel, I did physical tests on the treadmill in them and wondered if I’d wish I brought running shoes. Nope. These were great. My feet never hurt at all after a very challenging week. And I love the way they look. They are far, far elevated over the look of the popular Aussie Chelsea boot everyone wears. I compared them side by side and the fluevogs are much more substantial. They also have something (can’t remember if it’s a membrane or a coating) that repels water and my feet have always stayed dry and I’ve never treated them at all. I also don’t own a nubuk brush and somehow they always look clean. PLEASE never stop making this boot!

Perfect Chelsea Boot!

Over the last 20ish yrs I have always chose a Chelsea style boot as my #1 multi purpose footwear. I’ve owned 3 pairs of a certain Australian brand. Disappointingly I’ve found the quality of that brand has diminished over the years and found myself shopping around when the time came for a new pair this winter. Enter the Fluevog Jeudi! I picked up a pair of these lovelies last week just in time for our first dump of snow. I am smitten! They’ve got sturdy sole with somewhat “gummy” grip - perfect for ice, snow and everything in between. They hug my ankle, giving great support (and keeping out the snow), and so far have kept my feet warm and dry with a good medium thick wool sock. Knowing the quality, and longevity of my other Fluevogs I trust that these will be with me for another 20 years! 🤞

Love at first sight!

My first visit to a Fluevog store & these SPOKE to me. I have them in blue because they are beautiful & they don’t match anything I have. I wore them out of the store & walked around NYC for 3 days afterwards. Instantly comfortable & all things amazing! I’ve been a Fluevog fan ever since! These boots are made for walking, dancing & concerting & pretty much anything!

Favorite Boots

I previously bought these boots in green (I wrote a review) and noted that they were a smidge tight across the top of my foot. They did indeed stretch out and have become the comfiest boots I have ever had! I bought a pair in black because I love the style of the boots. I love my green ones so much that I went back to get a second pair for when these inevitably wear out, but alas, they were sold out. Then, one wonderful day, I saw they were restocked and I bought a second pair so fast it would make your head spin! If you want a gorgeous, comfortable pair of boots that go anywhere, buy these boots!

Loved but didn't last

I purchased a pair of Vog Chelseas a few years ago and absolutely loved them. At first they were a little snug (wide feet) but over time they molded to my feet giving the perfect fit. They were my go-to boots and went with everything. The problem is that over time the leather split from the sole rendering them unusable and damaged beyond repair. I am heartbroken! I've been a loyal customer over the last 20 years and have owned many Fluvogs. I make the investment because I know the shoes will last. I never had this issue in quality.

Love the style and comfort, but....

I ordered these fantastic Chelseas online and at first I thought they weren't going to fit me (size 10; my feet are 9 to 9.5). The Thursdays took a while to break in, and loosened up considerably. The sole is wonderfully thick and cushy, and these became my everyday go-to boots. Unfortunately the soles are only glued on, not stitched. I was horrified when the toe of one boot started to lift from the sole. I was about to go on a trip by plane and I needed comfy boots, so I krazy glued the gap. Since then the other sole is separating, and I'll have to take these for a proper repair. I've owned many wonderful Fluevogs, since my first pair of 3-hole Derby Swirls I found on the sale rack in the early 90s, and this is pretty disappointing.

Breaking In These Brilliant Boots

So these were my first “nice leather boot” purchase in my life. I had a trip to Ireland ahead and needed a pair of practical shoes that could go from grassy knolls straight into a local pub, and after searching the internet, these Chelsea boots had the most personality out of all the boots I’d seen. So I bought them online. I’m usually an 8-8.5 fit, but I bought the size 8 as it just felt right. Now let me tell you, when they arrived, I was SO discouraged because my foot would literally not even go in the foot hole. I could tell by the size of the boot that if I could just get my heel in, they’d fit; it was just that my heel literally would not enter the shoe. Enter: a quick call to Jack at the Chicago John Fluevog store, and he suggested I put my foot in a plastic grocery bag to get my foot in. With lots of maneuvering and some expletives uttered, I got the shoes on and they felt good but a little tight. The next day I was made aware of a wonderful invention called a shoehorn and by GOLLY did it work wonders—I was able to slide my feet right in no problem. HOWEVER THE SHOES WERE STILL TIGHT? I couldn’t tell if they were too small or if they just needed to be broken in. Long story short: I bought some leather conditioner and walked around in the shoes for two days. The felt better but the instep was still a bit tight. I put some leather conditioner inside the shoe where the instep is and Bob’s-Your-Uncle they relaxed! I’m now in Ireland and these are the most comfortable adventure shoes I have ever invested in. I wore them for 16 hours straight in my travels to Ireland and they’re snug but not tight…warm but no sweaty feet. I’m just truly amazed. The point is that while everyone’s foot is different, the fact that I went from cursing on the floor to being in love with the perfect fit of these is a miracle and perhaps you, too, will experience the miraculous power of these perfect boots for every Fluevoggin’ thing.

These hug the foot nicely, expect them to start out quite snug if you have a wide foot or high instep. If you are in-between sizes, size up and add an insole.
